Looking for a meaningful way to spend a Saturday morning outdoors? New Leaf Collaborative invites community members of all ages to join us for Wetland Restoration Day on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.at Moorhen Marsh, located at Mt. View Sanitary District, 3800 Arthur Road in Martinez.

This hands-on community event is an opportunity to make a real impact on a local wetland habitat while learning about the native plants that help our ecosystems thrive. Participants will work together to remove invasive species, make room for new growth, and help restore this important natural area for wildlife and future generations.

As part of the Meet Me Martinez! A Celebration of Our Native Flora series, attendees will also learn about California Sneezeweed (Helenium puberulum), a beautiful native flowering plant that supports local pollinators and wildlife. Despite its name, sneezeweed doesn't actually make you sneeze! Participants will have the chance to plant their own sneezeweed to take home, helping to expand native plant habitats throughout our community.

In addition to restoration activities, families can enjoy a nature-inspired art project and explore the important role wetlands play in protecting water quality, supporting wildlife, and creating resilient ecosystems. No experience is necessary, and all ages are welcome.
